翻訳会社からの翻訳依頼を待って、

待機しているわけがありません。


また、

その分野の専門家とか専門医であっても

その分野の翻訳の専門家とはかぎりません。

翻訳を発注するクライアントのみなさん、

その辺のことを承知しておいたほうがいいと思います。

「根治」、「完治」

mediastinal lymph node dissectionは「縦隔リンパ節郭清」。

治療指数。
TI(therapeutic index)。治療係数。安全域。薬を治療に用いる際、治療効果や安全性を問うために使う用語。一般的に治療指数が大きいほど安全性が高く、治療に使う薬として好ましいとされる。
計算式は、LD50/ED50。薬を投与した動物の半数が死亡する「半数致死量(LD50)」を、投与した動物の半数が最小限の効果を示す「半数効果用量(ED50)」で割る。

なんか、わかったような、わからないような。

まぁ、下記の文例にあるように、

その程度はlargeとsmallで表すんですな。

The larger the therapeutic index (TI), the safer the drug is. If the TI is small (the difference between the two concentrations is very small), the drug must be dosed carefully and the person receiving the drug should be monitored closely for any signs of drug toxicity.

For a regional lymph node dissection, some of the lymph nodes in the tumor area are removed; for a radical lymph node dissection, most or all of the lymph nodes in the tumor area are removed.

Curative resection is the treatment of choice for gastric cancer, but it is unclear whether this operation should include an extended (D2) lymph-node dissection, as recommended by the Japanese medical community, or a limited (D1) dissection. We conducted a randomized trial in 80 Dutch hospitals in which we compared D1 with D2 lymph-node dissection for gastric cancer in terms of morbidity, postoperative mortality, long-term survival, and cumulative risk of relapse after surgery.

一つだけ紹介します。

照会事項と言えば、

「～を踏まえて」

ですよね。

Weblioで調べてみました。

以上はほんの一例ですね。


イートモでも、「踏まえ」で検索すると、21件ヒットします。

「用法・用量」

dosage and administrationは、

あくまでも添付文書の見出しであり、

それ以外のところでは通用しない。


私が言っているのではなく、

内山雪枝先生がおっしゃっています。

「～に関連して」

原文の内容を読み込んで、

なるべく別の表現に書き換えて、

訳出したいところです。

どうしようもない場合、

文書の性質上、原文の表現から離れたくない場合、

などには下記のような例も参考しましょうか？

以前は、「照会事項」ではなく、「指示事項」と呼ばれていたこともあって、

Instructionと訳していたことがありました。

今の照会事項は、「～してください」という形式で、やわらかい印象になりました。

「照会事項」に対応する英語についても、

Inquiry、Query、Questionといろいろで、統一されていないようです。

翻訳者としてなんでもいいから、

権威のある人が統一してもらいたいです。

relapseは、動詞として使う場合、

主語は人などになるそうです、

と書きましたが、

同じような例としてrecoverがあります。

主語は人などになるようです。

以下のイートモ対訳文例に示すように、

「人などがrecover from 病気など」

となるようです。

病気や検査値などを主語にしたければ、

以下のように処理すればよさそうです。

難しいものですね。

やはり、理屈ではなく、対訳文例をそのままおぼえたほうがよさそうです。

という場合には、

「回復」にrestoreが使われるようです。

The current standard of therapy for chronic hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive infection is interferon-alpha. However, its efficacy, based on seroconversion, is only 30 percent. In this randomized, placebo-controlled, multicenter study, researchers evaluated the efficacy of 12 months of famciclovir (FAM) therapy in 417 HBeAg-positive patients. FAM is a nucleoside analog that has been licensed for the treatment of varicella zoster and herpes simplex suppression.Patients received FAM (500 mg 3 times daily or 1.5 g once daily) or placebo; 78 percent completed treatment and follow-up periods. All patients had detectable HBV DNA. Median HBV DNA levels declined by more than 70 percent within the first month in all FAM-treated patients. By the end of the 12-month treatment period, median decreases in HBV DNA from baseline were 76 percent in the 500-mg-FAM group and 60 percent in the 1.5-g-FAM group versus 37 percent in the placebo group; 13 percent to 14 percent of patients in each of the 3 groups had undetectable DNA at the end of the treatment. DNA levels rebounded to within 10 percent of baseline values in all patients when FAM was discontinued. Median histological activity index (HAI) scores on paired liver biopsy specimens were -1.5 in the 500-mg-FAM group and -1.0 in the 1.5-g-FAM group versus no change in the placebo group. The change in HAI scores between the 2 FAM groups was not statistically significant. The proportion of patients who converted to HBeAg-negative status and who had undetectable HBV DNA levels by the end of treatment was similar for the 3 groups. However, by the end of the 6-month follow-up period, patients who had received the 500-mg-FAM dose were more likely to exhibit sustained responses (P=0.052). FAM was tolerated well, and no cases of virologic resistance were noted.

知人が貧血で悩んでいます。

NSAID(エヌセード)の使い過ぎによる腸潰瘍からの出血が原因のようです。

鎮痛にはNSAID(エヌセード)が必要だし、

使いすぎると潰瘍になって貧血になるし、

薬をまさにさじ加減が大切ですね。

適当な文例を見つけました。

主語は疾患ではなく患者等になるようです。

以下の例も利用できそうです。

「治療内容」の訳し方、迷います。

前後の文脈から「内容」が何を意味しているのかわかる場合はいいんですけど、

「治療の種類」という意味で使われているケースがあったり、

「内容」に特に意味がないケースもあったり、

迷います。

そもそも「治療内容」などと書かずに、

「治療内容」の具体的な内容を記述してもらえれば、

通じやすい英文になると思います。

でも、翻訳仕事には納期があるので、

十分な見直しはできません。

一定の時間にある程度の枚数を処理しないと、

翻訳者は生計を立てられないので、

パーフェクトな訳文はできません。

お客さんはその辺のことを了解してくださいね。

「ほんやく掲示板」ではいろいろ書いていましたけど、

最近は書くことがないというか、

書くことが思い浮かびません。

神戸の地震から20年だそうです。

あのとき、隣に住んでいる人と出勤時にお会いして、「神戸で大きな地震があったようですね」と会話したことを覚えています。

時間のたつのは早いですね。
